One of my all time favourite places is Green Bay which is located on the South Shore of Nova Scotia near Petite Riviere which is between Lahave and Broad Cove. When I was a kid my parents always rented a cottage there for a week in the summer. Me, my sister and whole family loves this place. My mom had also spent time at this beach during her childhood as well. A few years after I moved from Nova Scotia to Toronto I started going back in the summer for a few days or a week whenever I had the chance to visit Green Bay. Our family still rents cottages each summer and I try to get back as often as I can for these family get togethers.
Green Bay is a bit more private and less travelled by tourists than the nearby popular beaches like Rissers and Crescent. Rissers is one of the more popular beaches as it has a camp ground, large sandy beach and life guards. Crescent Beach is known for allowing vehicles to drive right on the beach and great waves at times. Green Bay is a bit more spread out with several different beach areas, cool rocks, private cottages and a canteen.
Here is a view from the water of the Green Bay area.
There are several private cottages that are available to rent at Green Bay. The most popular are the MacLeod Cottages which are known to be extremely rustic cottages nicely placed along the shoreline just steps to the beach. They have a total of 22 cottages along the Green Bay beach area as well they operate the canteen which sells food and ice cream.
